Public benefit

The CSF schools do not only exist for the benefit of their own pupils, but also for those at other local schools. Many events take place each year to share facilities and resources with the state sector and our local community. The list below shows just some of these events:

At King Henry VIII School

  • 70 Headteachers and Business Managers from Coventry Local Authority schools meet each term for their business meetings.
  • Around 250 pupils take part in our annual Primary School Choral and Orchestral Day. Following a day of tuition from our Music staff, the pupils perform a combined concert to their parents.
  • Five schools have brought entire year groups of pupils for a week of swimming lessons in the pool. Minibus transport, pool use and swimming teachers are provided for our young swimmers.
  • Lessons have been provided at the request of local primary schools in subjects where we offer specialist facilities such as Design Technology and Food Technology.
  • Started in 2012 after the London Olympics, we host up to 80 Year 5 pupils from local primary schools for an afternoon of sports and competitions. There are prizes and goody bags for all, but of course it is the enthusiastic taking part which is cherished most.
  • Our Summer Activities programme is available to all pupils in the local area. Priced at just £99 for a full week of activities, this is a great way for the children of busy local parents to enjoy sharing our facilities over the summer months.
  • Sponsorship of the Earlsdon Festival, Coventry RFC and other organisations has helped us to support our local area.

At Bablake School

  • Over 600 local children each year attend our Outreach Days at Bablake; we offer Creative Arts, MFL, Musical Theatre and STEM days free of charge to Year 5 classes and teachers
  • Our annual Rugby day for Year 5 boys is run in partnership with the Wasps each Spring, with over 120 children benefitting from professional coaching and an exciting tournament, with prizes of Wasps tickets and awards for attainment and improvement in the sport
  • We run an annual Summer Sports Day at our playing fields for local children and in excess of 120 children enjoy a day of rounders and Kwik Cricket, led by our staff and Sixth Form pupils
  • Local scout groups regularly visit to train with Bablake staff on our climbing wall
  • In partnership with the Orchestra da Camera, we regularly hold Music days for children from across Coventry and Warwickshire, offering chances to work with professional conductors, performers and coaches and to meet leading classical soloists such as Tasmin Little and Craig Ogden
  • The Music Department offers whole-class access for local schools to the visiting Gamelan each year
  • We support the Rotary Club of Great Britain by hosting events such as Rotary Young Musician of the Year, Rotary ‘Youth Speaks’ and Rotary Young Entertainer club competitions
  • Our Sports Department offers free afternoons for year 5 children to hone their skills in netball and hockey, as well as providing coaching sessions with our specialist staff and Sixth Form sports scholars in local schools
  • Our subject specialist staff deliver an array of lessons in local primary schools, free of charge, providing whole-class access to subject specialist teaching and equipment. Lessons have included Science experiments on forces, Geography sessions on the environment, Maths extension activities, African drumming and singing sessions, ICT programming, History project support and Art and Textiles project days.
